My New Year’s Goals

“An optimist stays up until midnight to see the new year in.

A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves.”

I would like to think that I’m a highly ambitious person. Sometimes I can get a little carried away. However, it is 2012 (supposedly humankind’s final year of existence) and I want to do it big. Here are my goals for the New Year:

  1. Get my hustle on and save up enough money for college and beyond.
  2. Lose about 60 pounds and get back to my pre-emo (if there is such a thing) weight. I want to adapt to a healthy diet (I use the term loosely) and exercise routine. This doesn’t necessarily mean that I have to give up all my vices: *cough cough* Coca Cola
  3. Dominate the subject of mathematics (at least up to calculus). Math is the subject I like least. It takes a bit more effort. Besides, if I want to major in economics or computer science, a strong background in math is imperative.
  4. Figure out what I am TRULY passionate about. My problem: I like everything. Therefore, it makes it incredibly difficult to decide on a major.
  5. Find balance in life. Work hard, play hard.
  6. Be more sociable.
  7. Stop being so self conscious.
  8. Leave my pessimistic attitude behind.
  9. Be more I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T.
  10. Travel.
  11. Take up an artistic pursuit.
  12. Savor things in life instead of consuming.
  13. Forgive mistakes and leave the past in the past.
  14. Have more patience with myself and others.
  15. Re-establish meaningful relationships (with friends that I neglected).
  16. STOP PROCRASTINATING (I say this every year).
  17. Take risks. Calculated ones of course :)
  18. Do a bunch of really random stuff: see a band perform that I don’t really care for (30 Seconds to Mars, eek), re-enact a scene from Singing In The Rain etc…
  19. Act on my instincts. Stop second guessing myself.
  20. Come up with some crazy innovative idea and build a business on it?
